The B.L. Fisher Library adds more than 10,000 items to its research collection each year and houses nearly half a million print and electronic resources. How is the collection built? The collection grows each year in a number of ways. Selectors in Biblical Studies, Missiology and other fields comb through publishers’ lists for useful titles. The Technical Services manager, Don Butterworth, uses specially developed software to compare the Library’s collection to benchmark institutions and purchase the titles that are lacking. Some of these institutions include Princeton, Yale, Emory and Harvard.
The Library also invites users to suggest titles of books, periodicals and DVDs. To recommend a title for the collection, go to the Library’s homepage and, in the left column under More than Just Books, click on About Your Library. There you will see a link to the option to Recommend a Title. The linked page will first ask you to set up an account and then guide you through the process of suggesting a title for purchase.
